Covid-19 Risk Assessment for Election Polling Places

The Purpose of the Covid-19 Risk Assessment is to provide a common framework for election officials and election commissioners to make risk informed decisions about Public Safety and the operations of their election.

Since there are no vaccines or treatments for COVID-19, non-pharmaceutical interventions become the most important response strategy. These are community interventions that can help reduce the impact of disease and prevent another shut-down.

Using a Mass Gathering Risk Assessment Tool designed by the World Health Organization and supplemented with the State Guidance, I will conduct interviews with election organizers and review polling places. During the discussions, we will review health and safety concepts and a Risk Value will be given.

Topic areas include:
– Health Practices & Monitoring
– Disinfecting and Cleaning Procedures
– Staffing Practices and Training
– Physical Polling Place Space
– Voter Behaviors
– External Interactions and Communications
